Thirty-six blocks cut from branches and smoothed, with the bark taken off so the pale wood shows through. Nothing here is a cube. There are rounds and discs and tapers, a few forked pieces where a branch split, each one the shape the tree made rather than a shape a machine chose. That irregularity is the whole appeal: a tower has to be reasoned out rather than assembled, and a piece that balanced yesterday might not sit the same way today.
