100 Writing and Crafting Papers of Hokusai

Hokusai worked for seventy years and left behind more images than anyone could ever hang on a wall, so this book hands a hundred of them over as paper instead. They run from the Great Wave and the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji to birds and flowering branches on softly tinted grounds, travelers resting under pines on the Tokaido, the ghost prints from One Hundred Ghost Stories, and page after page of small figures out of the Hokusai Manga sketchbooks, dancers and sumo wrestlers printed in red on cream. Some sheets carry a single print across the full spread, others repeat a figure into a pattern, and a few are printed in silver on gray so the drawing sits back like a watermark. Every one lifts cleanly out of the binding for letters, wrapping, framing or collage.
