Every wooden railway needs a proper steam engine at the front of it, and Francis is fit for the job. Black with red and gold lining, numbered 301995, lettered LTV Railways down the side, and pulling a matching coal tender behind. The wheels are left as bare wood against all that black, which is what makes it look like the real thing rather than a toy. Magnets at both ends mean it couples to the rest of the No. 49 range and to most wooden track your child already has, so it joins the collection rather than starting a new one.
