Sixteen square sticks of blackboard chalk from Mercurius come in a soft range that runs from rose and coral through yellows and greens to blues, lilac, and a pair of earthy browns, all colored with natural pigments. The square shape offers a crisp edge for drawing lines and a broad flat side for laying in color, and the pastel shades blend softly on the board when smudged with a fingertip or cloth. A slim card box keeps the colors in order between drawings.
