Monet spent the last thirty years of his life painting the same pond, and never once ran out of things to see in it. This Pepin Press title holds twelve of his works reduced to pale grey line on heavy drawing paper, water lilies and their reflections chief among them, printed light enough that whatever color you lay down becomes the whole painting. It makes for an unusual kind of study, since you are working from the same composition Monet did but nothing obliges you to reach the same conclusions about the light. At 180 g/m² the paper is acid free and takes colored pencil, crayon, liquid ink, watercolor, and gouache without buckling, and finished sheets can be pulled out and framed.
