Virginia Lee Burton loved to show the turning of the year, and this memo pad gathers twelve little scenes into a single cover printed in white on a warm coral red, each month framed by the same great tree with a swing hanging from its branches. A snowman stands beneath it in January, kites fly in March, the branches grow heavy with summer leaves, and by December a small fir is ready to be carried home. Inside are a full one hundred and twenty sheets, plenty for grocery lists, little drawings, and notes left on the kitchen table, all with a touch of a beloved storyteller's art.
